Peter Collins
Peter started running in training for the first London Marathon in 1981, he obviously enjoyed the experience as he then joined Hounslow AC for about 10 years before it merged with with Windsor.
While doing circuit training at Egham leisure centre with his old friend Bob Webster on a Thursday at Egham Sports Centre he met up with members of Runnymede Runners who he knew through the MABAC races. This convinced him to join RR in 92/93 and later he became the Chairman for 10 years , although in his time with the club he has become the unofficial “quartermaster” holding most of the club’s equipment, which is used on the Handicaps , Relays, MABAC , Water Stations for many races , Staines 10K ,and Junior Park Runs.
Peter is still as enthusiastic as ever and celebrated his 80th birthday with a great club turn out at Bedfont Lakes parkrun, and can often be seen at races and training nights supporting and encouraging the club members. He says he looks forward to many more years in this most friendly of clubs.
